So It Begins

Updated: Jul 19, 2020

Welcome to my writing blog! I'm so excited that you are here!

Today's agenda will go as follows: 1. Sarah's family introduction. 2. What to expect when you're expecting to read a blog. 3. Sarah's Interests. 4. Sarah's writing.

If you stopped by my "about me" page on your way over, then you already know that i'm a wife and a mom and, of course, an aspiring writer. BUT DID YOU KNOW that I also have a dog? Here she is. Please hold applause until the end.

Name: Elsa (or Queen Elsa of Arendelle, if you prefer)

Age: 1

Occupation: Snuggle coordinator and family engagement specialist

Skills: General Scruffiness, barking, chasing dad.

Odd Quirks: Elsa gets depressed on Mondays.

I love my family. My Daughter, Addison Rebel is 4 years old (which is still insane to me), and she is the definition of a girly-girl. Where she get's it, i'm not really sure. You'd think being named after the Star Wars Rebel Alliance would have had some impact on her, but I digress. I keep an Instagram page dedicated to Addie and Elsa (Neil rarely makes the cut), so if you want to see how cute my little Jedi Princess is, check out The_Erredge_Girls on instagram.

Of course, this wouldn't be a very good introductory blog if I left out my hubster-dubster, Neil.

Neil loves board games, and Disney, and star wars, and getting the dog riled up.

Gosh are they cute.

Neil and I were also both blessed with awesome families, the members of which I'm sure will feature in future blog posts. But there is one member who I think merits pointing out here.

Maybe you'll recognize her...

Yes, you guessed it folks, It's award winning author Susan May Warren!

*The crowds go wild*

My mom has been a huge influence on my writing- If you don't know her, you should go check her out.

She has always been rooting for me to pursue writing, so when I first started i didn't even tell her. I didn't want her to get too excited and then make her all sad when it doesn't work out. Nobody can withstand the sad puppy-mom eyes.

But what about you, Sarah? What about YOUR interests? Sheesh, random character from nowhere who everyone will instantly forget, I'm getting there! But first, i want to talk about what you can expect in my blog.

My goal is to document my process as I try to get published, and to share what i'm working on; the things I'm editing, the scenes i'm writing, every time one of my own characters makes me cry. You know, the usual.

But I also want to post about the things going on in my life. The challenges of being a working mom, The excitement of knowing i'll never leave the house again because of COVID-19, the suspense of whether or not my kid will ever learn how to brush her own teeth. That one is a nail-biter, for sure.

At last! We've arrive to the last two topics of this blog. Sarah's interests, and Sarah's Writing.

I have only one important interest. PINS. Yes, you heard me folks, Pins. Disney Pins to be specific. I would sell my soul for a Limited Edition Pin. Not sure what i'm talking about? Well, okay, twist my arm. Here's a pic of my Snow White Pin Collection.

And Finally, my writing.

Over the last two years, I've been working on a two-book series set in a futuristic 1920's about a woman named Charlie who is entangled in the mob. I'll be posting excerpts of my writing in each post. And with that, I leave you. Until next time, friend!

“Gatsby.” My voice was soft spoken and broken. “Please play some music. Anything.”

“Right away, Charlie.” I thought I detected sympathy in his computer-generated voice I wish he wouldn’t do that. I didn’t need pity. I needed control. I needed to be someone else.

I needed to have died in the streets before Agatha found me.

Soft music played from the vanity as I began to disassemble my reflection. I pulled my hair free and ran fingers through the molded waves, encouraging them to fall free. I wiped away lipstick and eye shadow and revealed my natural face. I had always thought of myself as plain, with my naturally blonde hair and thin eyebrows over cat-like, slanted eyes. This reflection was me, Charlie, undefined, undiscovered, unmolded. The Mistress would never own this.
